Booting From DVD with Win 10 & UEFI

Hello, I tried to add a DVD to boot sequence but I couldn't find an option for this. I tried Dell's recommendation but they indicate that hardware might not be recognized by the system. I did use the DVD to install Win 10 initially, but it doesn't show up. Can someone explain how to add a DVD to boot sequence for a Dell Inspiron 15 using Win 10 with UEFI or Legacy if that is an option? Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Normally with dell
The way to boot a device on a temporary basis is using the F12 key during boot and use the Boot Device Menu. Make sure and select the UEFI version if you are running a UEFI configuration. You don't need to change anything and the next time you boot, the normal boot priority will be used.

Press F2 to Enter Setup (Bios) go to the Security section. Look for Secure Boot, Disable it. With a Windows installer DVD created from the Microsoft Media Creation tool in the drive, go to the Boot tab. Here if UEFI is enabled, add Legacy/CSM boot. Under Windows Boot Manager it should list your DVD drive as a boot option, unless you do not have a GPT formatted Disc. Move this to First Boot device.
Or as stated, you can press F12 at bootup and choose DVD drive as first boot device. You must have a boot disc in the drive first.

Be advised, though, if you use @spunk's method to boot the DVD in legacy/CSM mode, that is the mode Windows will install in as well.

Thanks for all the suggestions!! I was able to finally access the repair facility on a Win 10 disk which allowed me to get a previous version of Win 10 working.

    Hi to all

I have given up for now, I may have enough energy to continue later today.

I have 5 UEFI PCs/Laptops and all (apparently) requires different methods
to boot to a CD/DVD drive.

This is an area that needs standardisation.

But I do appreciate the advice I have received.

    Cheers

    Daniel

    Okay

I just realised that there is more than my issue here, so now I am totally confused,
why can't a new poster post their own thread.

Is this a forum space issue??

    Oh Well
