    Deleting the contents in the Prefetch folder doesn't hurt anything.

    It doesn't, it will fill up as soon as any program is started anyway. Only when you uninstall a lot of SW it would keep entries for those and and take up some space but even that is not much.

    In support of your post:

    1. If you don’t run a program, Windows does not access the Prefetch information.
    2. Windows maintains a maximum of 128 entries in the Prefetch folder. It cleans itself automatically.

    That was a kinda old MS article, if you consider Vista kinda old. Obviously, they've bumped that up. Self cleaning part still holds true.
