    Folder thumbnails on taskbar?

Have File Explorer folders always been displayed like this? So that the full names cannot be identified when their current width is narrow?

    I think so!

Increase thumbnail size and/or speed up Mouse Hover Delay to show tooltip immediately.

    Thanks, understood.

Could you tell me where I'll find the setting to change Mouse Hover Delay please?

    In the Windows Registry.

    Sorry, it's MouseHoverTime.

    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse

Double click MouseHoverTime String to change it's value; default is 400, I've set mine to 8...

I also think the answer to your original question is, Yes.

A diversion from the question - just something I noticed in your screenshot
You can, if you prefer, have your Taskbar Toolbars [Desktop, Quick launch] over on the left next to the Start button & Task view buttons.

Thanks both. Away from PC for two weeks but will try both the registry edit and taskbar tip on return.
