    Search Box Missing from File Explorer through 3 Insider Updates

    I'm frustrated... It's been 3 Windows Updates since I had a search box in File Explorer...
    and more annoying is that every time I do a search (knowing I'm not the only one with this issue) i come across an endless stream of "help articles" that claim to have the solution... yes, I've already stopped and started the search service - yes, already rebuilt the index - yes, I have restarted my computer - yes, of course I ran the troubleshooter... ugh.

    This couldn't have come at a worse time as I'm re-configuring and restructuring my entire file system arrangement as well as migrating my vast music library from Google to PCloud (rearranging how they are filed, I used to have a separate folder for each album now I am combining into consolidated folders and using search on the root allows me to gather, pull and rearrange what I need done within seconds)... just explaining why so important lol

    Does anyone with beyond basic troubleshooting skills know how to fix this?

    Thank you in advance

    You've probably seen this:
    File explorer search box bug windows 10 version 1903 build 18912.1001

    -Part of the risk you take with using Insider builds, of course.

    In the interim you could use a different file manager...

    For me, explorer shell:::{9343812e-1c37-4a49-a12e-4b2d810d956b} crashes Explorer, (no Search Box in Explorer)

    explorer shell:::{2559a1f8-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0} works okay.

    Thank you, I did happen to see a bit ago but had not realized it was on this site (apologies for rehashing a prior topic). It looks as though a few of us are still in same situation.

    Thank you for your suggestion regarding a different file manager. I've become so frustrated trying to fix this problem I forgot to consider other options.

    I have both keys in the registry and the first one (the one you mentioned caused your explorer to crash) seems to be the one that's active. Can I use powershell or cmd to call up the one that works (for you at least) rather than the one that doesn't seem to be working??

    I know how to follow instructions when making changes in the Registry but don't want to incorrectly make changes...

    Here are 2 keys showing current search use (there are a couple more that are showing whether or not search appears in start and in taskbar)

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\{93 43812e-1c37-4a49-a12e-4b2d810d956b}

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{1 90337d1-b8ca-4121-a639-6d472d16972a} as ParsingName value

    Repeated in ...\WOW6432Node\... as above
    It also apprears in the "HideIcon" sections of CurrentVersion\Explorer
    (hoping that made sense)
