Quick Formatting Harddiskvolume3( aka the recycle bin)

Evening, upon trying to recover files from the recycle bin(Harddiskvoulme3) via Recuva, I got the error "failure to determine file system type". According to other forum sites, that error meant that my recycle been has been corrupted! In that case, the thread told me to quick reformat the drive. However, when I opened disk manager, the drive was nowhere to be seen.

If someone can recommend me a program if there is no way around this with a built in Windows program, that would be much appreciated.

Hi HorGodofRanches. Welcome to the TenForums @HorGodOfRanches

The Recycle Bin is not a drive.

Here is the forums tutorial on fixing corrupted Recycle Bin.

Did you get your files back? These processes will not improve your chances of recover.

It appears that my bin isn't corupted after all, rather, I've been denied access to it. How would I achieve this access? This is a work computer I deleted files from.

If a work computer is it safe to assume you are set up as a Standard User and not an Administrator? I'm guess Recuva needs admin rights.

I would ask your IT group. Depending on system they may even have a backup.

I'd still ask your support team for direction.

Failing that you could Image your device so you have something to restore back to.

    Then you could take ownership.

Add Take Ownership to Context Menu in Windows 10

Altering ownership of a system folder is something I don't recommend.

Maybe another member has better info and real life experience.

I'll stand by, thanks. I've also went to File Explorer Options on Control panel and I was still denied access.
