a new question about win 10

The Dell laptop that I have doesn't have a LED that blinks when the internal HD is working. So I found a small program that sites on the desktop and runs in the background and blinks when the HD is working. But the prog didn't come with an installer. I have a copy of the prog saved on my D hard drive in the external USB case.
I wanted to make a directory in the programs files dir. But I am locked out from manually making any dir's in the "prog file" dir or the "prog file(86)" dir. I am the only one that uses laptop. In the user accounts in control panel I am listed as admin. I tried to enable "super admin" via the cmd in the DOS window "net user administrator /active:yes" I have used that cmd in Win 7 to enable the "super admin". It works in Win 7 but not in Win 10 Home 64bit. Now the cmd "net user" by it self works and I brought up a list of logged in users. This is strange. The cmd "net user" lists me as a "guest" and lists "aspnet" as admin. See the screen capture bellow. How is this possible?

    Hi, I'll make a suggestion:
If you wish to 'install' such a program, there is a way.

Download a small free tool called zipinstaller by Nirsoft (Nirsoft makes a fantastic range of utilities).
Zip your program folder, then use zipinstaller to install it. That creates start menu entry, and an uninstaller.

As regards permissions: a search offers
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...9-366f8d72c2bd

But don't go ferreting around and changing things there.

There are lots of similar cases ... small utilities that have no installer. You just dump an executable somewhere and just run it.
For those cases I have a folder called C:\apps
If I have a utility called Shmazz I'll create folder C:\apps\Shmazz
I own C:\apps with no restrictions.

This means I NEVER touch anything in C:\Program Files
I leave it to proper programs with proper installers and uninstallers to touch that "special" folder.
I stay away from it entirely.

What about the fact that the user account in control panel says that I am an admin. But (The cmd "net user" lists me as a "guest" and lists "aspnet" as admin). How did "aspnet" get installed? And what is "aspnet?

Dalchina I will look at that prog called "zipinstaller by Nirsoft"

margrave55 I will look at making the "C:\APP" as a backup plain. I already use a dir called "Inet-apps" for internet prog's.

No it doesn't. net user is just listing the users - it isn't showing account type - that is just how the text is wrapping. You can resize your cmd window and it will look different.

You can see your group memberships with whoami /groups or see who is an administrator with net localgroup administrators. Similarly net localgroup users would show you a list of standard users.

Lx07 I have opened the cmd window to full screen and the cmd "net user" still list's me as guest and "aspnet" as admin. I can screen capture the cmd window in full screen mode if need be.

Lx07 I disagree with you. I know what I saw. So I guess we just agree to disagree and leave it at that. Or we can bandy it back and forth until the place down under freezes over.

You're misinterpreting what you see: all five words are account names; none are account types.

You misunderstood what you saw. The command NET USER just lists all the user names. The 'Administrator 'and 'Guest' you saw there are the names of two of the accounts, NOT a description to be applied to the name next to them.

    Code:
    C:\>net help user
The syntax of this command is:

    NET USER
    [username [password | *] [options]] [/DOMAIN]
             username {password | *} /ADD [options] [/DOMAIN]
             username [/DELETE] [/DOMAIN]
             username [/TIMES:{times | ALL}]
             username [/ACTIVE: {YES | NO}]

NET USER creates and modifies user accounts on computers. When
without switches, it lists the user accounts for the computer....

Just place the TSR in a folder under your user directory.
