When I work on my friend's PC, I am taking a shining to his Windows 8.1 (Update 1) install. I set him up with IOBit Start Menu 8 and concealed as much Metro as I could. It runs REALLY well.

I also had two years of bliss with Windows XP x64 Edition. I was using a customized x64 build of Seamonkey with it. It ran VERY well on my xw8200 workstation.

I can't really vote as starting with Windows 98 I've enjoyed using all of them and never having any real problems with any of them makes it difficult to name just one.
Each one had its gold time, but I really liked Windows 7/8.0/8.1.1 !

I chose XP only because it was the OS we used back when I worked on access and HVAC controls. It did a nice job interfacing with the software we had then. I'm sure things have changed since then though.

It was a good OS for business use.
