Totally slipped my mind. Workstation. I remember back around that time Sun Microsystems machines were "Workstations" and therefore serious pieces of hardware. :)
Windows 2000 was the same way, 2000 server and 2000 Workstation. Things got more consumer oriented after that and the Workstation label got dropped. The naming convention split too. ME, XP, 7 etc while the server versions retained the year released designation, 2003 server etc.

I am sorry, but I have to disagree. Vista was a fine operating system. I am still using it on two PCs and really never had any problems - actually less than with Windows 7. XP is a horrible thing from the dawn of time and gets only beat by 8.1.
If that is true so why did Vista almost leave the scene faster than XP? And Win 7 came out so fast after Vista was released. I have a Vista laptop here. It's a very nice paperweight. I actually dual boot it with Linux Mint Petra because Petra is much nicer than Vista.

Vista had a bad start because of the drivers. From then on it was badmouthed - mostly by people who had never used it. But some gor egg on their faces like you can see here.

I agree, Mint is a nice system. I run Mint Mate 14, 16 and 17.

I go back to before PC's with computers. I voted for Windows 7, but I liked the old IBM OS/2, also.

    What's that, OS/2 1.3? It has a 16 bit look to it.

That looks like OS/2 Warp which is a 32 bit system Merlin was a better version.

I had OS/2 2.0 2.1 and 3.0. I don't remember any of those icons. But it's been a long time. Then again I have to think about it to remember who one the NBA game last night. :)

Yup, OS/2 Warp 4.5. I worked on it in Boca and then Austin in the Fixpack and Servicepack area. It was a great OS for it's time, much better that Windows but IBM never could figure out what to do with it so stopped developing it.

I bought the Borland C++ 1.0 and 1.5 compilers for OS/2. I was hoping that compiler was an indicator of "critical mass" for OS/2. Just not meant to be I guess.
