Windows 8 (8.1 to be specific :)) I've even got used to the Metro screens but Windows 7 is a super close 2nd, i loved Windows 7 from the get go... Windows 8 took a little more adapting but once i used it i can use it just as fluently as 7.

I'm the one vote so far for Vista. I have never, ever had a problem with it. It worked out of the box perfectly for what I did. Now my 18 year old has been using it since I got 7 and now 8 and he hasn't had a single issue either.
7 is a close 2nd though, and I haven't had a single issue with 8/8.1. Everyone got their undies in a bunch over it, but on a desktop, it's just fine. Take a little time to learn the changes, and get a start menu replacement and it's fine. Fast and surprisingly useful.

Old people don't like change, and I'm OLD, so change comes really hard for me.
I've done a lot of experimenting with every new OS since XP, which I still run, and I must admit, that Windows 8.1 appears to be the most compatible version of the lot.
I can actually run programs now that I've not been able to run, since XP.
I spent several hours, a few nights ago, figuring out how to run an old 16 bit DOS command on 8.1. Call me devious, ingenious, or a technical Magician, but just don't call me a Hacker.
My thanks to the guys at Redmond, who built a lot of little "back doors" in 8.1, to make it even more compatible with OLD software, than previous OS's.
I even got a script, to force a new restore point, to run in 8.1, which has not run on any OS since XP.
And a really big "Whoopie!" because I fingered out how to run an old 16 bit DOS game, that I bought on a floppy disk, in 1990. With a few tweaks, to the OS, it runs great on 8.1.
Yes, that's 8.1 + Classic Shell. Looks a lot like XP, don't it?
Now I'm anxious to see what else it can do. I do know it runs lightning fast on my 8 yr old PC.

Windows 7 for me too. No plans on using the disaster that is Windows 8. If W9 has a start menu (no need of 3rd party app), I might switch. I don't want no touch interface either.
