The first issue of 1909 has already been released to a select set of members of the release preview "Ring" - I am lucky? enough to be one of them and have received the initial upgrade, (feature update), and two monthly Patch tuesday updates

It's the first of a new type of Autumn update cycle if the rumors are true, in the future the spring update will be the major annual one, and the autumn will be a roll up fix with only minimum new features

    Hello,

This issue also happens to me. I've recently checked and the issue is still there even on Windows 10 version 1909. There is even a thread on NVIDIA GeForce forums where I added a post with additional information but there isn't any official response. Is this issue ever going to be fixed?

    Link to the mentioned thread

I nailed this problem down to Nvidia's in-game overlay. If it's enabled, it triggers focus assist, if it's disabled, everything works as it should. Someone has to fix this, but not sure whether it should be Microsoft or Nvidia.
    Hey it worked! Thank you

    This is indeed the solution.

Problem: Focus assist would stay on even after a steam game is closed.
Disabling the GeForce Overlay did the trick. Now when i quit a game focus assist stops.

    Thanks.

Was doing some searching to figure this issue out. This is still not fixed. I have focus assist setup to activate when I'm running a game, using a app in fullscreen, and from night to morning.

Having the fullscreen app condition turned on causes focus assist to turn on when no windows are open and I'm just sitting at the desktop. If I open any window (explorer, edge etc) focus assist turns off like it should be. Also turning of the GFE in game overlay fixes it but I like that feature and use it quite a bit.

Wish whoever was responsible (Nvidia or Microsoft) would fix this. Interesting how the gamebar dose not cause this to happen yet it's very similar. A overlay that can be accessed at any time while using the PC. Honestly I wouldn't mind using just the gamebar but when I have it's "game DVR" style feature on where it records the last 5 minutes of gameplay automatically so I can save it at anytime if I want, I noticed gamebar (specifically the EXE that dose the recording) is a huge memory hog. Don't have that problem with Nvidia's overlay/Game DVR.

Is the Game Bar even notifying its active when starting a game?

It used to for me in older versions of Windows (where it even changed color), though no longer prompts like the NVIDIA GeForce Experience notification.
