Stuck with a black screen and a CMD window

    Hi guys, long story short.
Noticed that my CPU always was at 100% and that soundmixer.exe was the cause to it.
After some googling i decided to remove it from regedit and restarted the computer.

Now when i start the computer i'm stuck with a black screen and a CMD window, also two OSD screens are showing (Aida64 and MSI afterburner) and sometimes if i'm lucky, a new window appears that claims that i have to go to the setting and activate my Windows version. If i click "go to settings" a new window appear that say -LicensingUI.exe the class has not registrated.

Tried to boot up into safe mode aswell. Same black screen and same CMD window.

Tried to restore the computer from a restore point, but that are failing time after time.

Guess it's time for a fresh clean installation of windows, but damn i need those game saves and backups.

    Hi jebediah.

Trust you can access another device. If so build this boot disk and boot from it. Copy off what you need.

    Downloads - Win14393PESE-X64 - ToolsLib

In future I would recommend you use a tool like Macrium Reflect to create a system image. What ever tool you use build and test boot media you create with tool.

Macrium produces a reliable recovery method and the software is free.

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

Seems like your PC has been infected.
SoundMixer.exe Virus Removal (June 2019 Update) - Virus Removal

If you had been using disk imaging routinely, you could have restored a disk image created before this happened.

You may be able to copy off the files you need if you boot your PC from the disk Caledon Ken has mentioned. It gives you a familiar Win 10 environment and a lot of useful utilities.

Manage to solve the problem another way.
Opened regedit via the cmd promt, re-entered the soundmixer key that i deleted earlier. Booted up Windows and installed good old Eset Nod32. The trojan is now gone and it's the last time i trust Windows security.

Good news... now's the time to update your disk image - or create your first if not yet using Macrium Reflect (free) e.g.

Given a disk image of Windows, when it- or the disk breaks irretrievably- you can restore the disk image. Repeatedly recommended here.

Thanks. Always been using Clonezilla and i'm happy with it, but since i thought that Windows 10 should be able to keep the backup itself i ignored it for several years.
