Maybe this is useful for somebody else: When I had the wakeup finally working, I was facing the issue that Windows would go to sleep after a short period of time had elapsed after each wakeup. This happened because Windows has a hidden function that sends the computer to sleep if the lock screen idles for 2 minutes.

The solution can be found in the #2 post of this topic:

    Interesting find.

I have not needed to test these out-of-date lists of other entries that can be made to show up in the Advanced settings
Show/hide all hidden settings in Win7 Power Options - GitHub
Show/hide all hidden settings in Windows7 Power Options - pipiscrew

By the way, if you ever have to investigate power options you can get a full set returned using the command
    PowerCfg -qh >D:\Desktop\PowerCfg-QHProperties.txt
[using a folder path & filename of your own devising]
-q gets the 'normal' list of power properties
-qh includes additional properties that are hidden from the 'normal' list

PowerCfg can also be used to set individual entries in the properties list.
    - The syntax is shown in PowerCfg Help [PowerCfg /?].
    - I should be able to find an example if you ever need one. I have not needed to set any PowerCfg values directly since Win7.

    Solution that worked for me

Old thread, but may be useful for folks searching online. This post by techie007l on the microsoft forum here explains the main issue with scripted sleep and then problems on wakeup. His solution works 100% if there are no other driver/bios issues.

Bottom line: Can't use rundll32 to execute the sleep command because it actually tries to hibernate the computer, which prevents task scheduler from waking the computer. Need to use an alternate command like psshutdown.
