    I don't see Libraries in File Explorer

    I had a local computer shop upgrade my Windows 7 PC to Windows 10. They did a clean OS install but preserved my user data. Actually, they backed up my user data and then then restored to a new (larger) internal hard drive.

    Today, I noticed that File explorer does not have an entry for Libraries. Instead, Documents, Pictures, etc., are shown at the top level, directly below This PC:

    Documents -> Properties
    Type = System Folder
    Location = D:\Users\John\Documents.

    Does that make it a Library?

    In any case, why is Libraries not shown?

    You need to expand the ribbon in File Explorer' to show libraries.

    There is also a useful filepath to know:
    Code:
    %WinDir%\explorer.exe /e,::{031E4825-7B94-4dc3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}
    which you can use to create a shortcut direct to libraries.

    If it is checked then you should see 'Libraries' in the left hand column, and that should then take you to the libraries screen.

    I agree that it should, but it doesn't! "Show Libraries" was already checked in the navigation pane options when I originally posted (I should have mentioned it). But Explorer does not show a "Libraries" folder.

    I really don't know in that case. Maybe someone else has some more ideas...

    I suppose as a last resort you could do a repair installation although I would suggest making a disk image first. That would allow you to try all sorts of stuff out without fear of corrupting anything.

    Here's a tutorial on libraries that might point you in the right direction:
    Include Folder to Library in Windows 10

    See the screenshot in the original post. Explorer does not show a "Libraries" folder, so there's nothing to manage. By the way, it's a great tutorial, but currently useless to me.

    Hi,

    What about this:
    Hide or Show Libraries in Navigation Pane in Windows 10 > OPTION FOUR

    Thanks for the link to the tutorial! I found the solution at the very beginning:

    If you turn on Show all folders in the navigation pane, Libraries will always show in the navigation pane.

    For some reason, "Show all folders" was off. When I turned it on, the libraries appeared.

    I'm marking the problem as solved.
