Microsoft Text Input Application/Inicio (Start in English) processes

I updated to W10 1903 last night. After the update, I found two processes in Task manager that I never seen before, Microsoft Text Input Application and Inicio. Inicio means Start in Spanish. Does anyone know what they are and what they do? The one called Inicio perhaps does have a role with Start menu, but I dont know. I searched Google and found nothing.

About the other one (Microsoft Text Input Application), some information can be found in Google but nothing recent (related to Version 1903). If it is something that can be disabled via Settings, I like to disable it. Same with Inicio, if its nothing important and can be disabled via Settings, thats what I like to do. If someone knows what this things are, please let me know. Thank you.

    Hello Bo,

The Start (StartMenuExperienceHost.exe) process is for the Start menu. Microsoft separated the Start menu into its own process now.

Restart Start Menu in Windows 10

Microsoft Text Input Application is for the software keyboard (aka: touch keyboard).

    Thanks Brink, appreciate your reply.

So, can this processes be disabled? if so, How? If they really don't do nothing, I like to disable them, specially the Microsoft Text input application.

Or, should I leave them alone Thanks again.

I wouldn't worry about them. They won't use any resources until you actually use them.

Actually I am having the same issue after updating to 1903.
WindowsInternal.ComposableShell.Experiences.TextInput.InputApp.exe consumes about 9MB RAM while that might seem little resource the problem is it is no longer going to Suspended 0 K like with 1809 version.

I looked at this video just over a month ago.
This guy who I spoke to in the video recommended to rename the folder as it was causing him frame rate drops.

I don't know if this applies for 1903 and whether it would cause any harm. But I wished there was an option to disable this the normal way rather than trying to simply rename that folder.

    Hello, Members:

    Current WIN 10 Home - Version 10.0.18362 Build 18362

@Brink wrote: Microsoft Text Input Application is for the software keyboard (aka: touch keyboard).

I never before observed this in TASK MANAGER Processes before...
    however it cause an ISSUE:

My laptop started repeatedly waking from SLEEP MODE on its own.

    • I searched Google: windows 10 keeps coming out of sleep...
    • I implemented many article recommendations...
    • Issue NOT resolved.

I conduct daily laptop cleaning maintenance each evening with:

    • CCleaner (portable)
    • Webroot's built-in utility "Optimize Now"
    • Win 10 Create Restore Point
    • Iobit Advanced SystemCare 12 PRO

After all other MODS did not resolve WAKEUP issue... I decided to test:

    • TURN-OFF keyboard (Logitech K400+)

Windows 10 keeps waking from sleep issue has been successfully resolved (going on a week now).

    • I would conclude that Microsoft Text Input Application is responsible for this nuisance issue.

Hope this proves helpful to someone!

    ~ Alan

P.S. If MOD sees fit to move this post... please let me know its new location. THX.

    Hello Alan @ab1kenobee,

If your laptop is woken up again, you can check using an option in the tutorial below to see what is reported as the wake source.

    Hello, @Brink... and thank you.

    Per your powercfg lastwake instructions:

Microsoft Text Input Application/Inicio (Start in English) processes-image.png

What are you able to discern from the above printscreen?

I have both ENABLED / DISABLED the keyboard...
DISABLED: Win 10 Home does **not** wake up.
ENABLED: Win 10 Home appears to **not** be waking up after changes made (per articles).

    Per your OPTION-2...
I will implement Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc) the next wake up event when occurs.

This needs additional observation and patience before I can declare this issue has been resolved.

    Much appreciate!

    ~ Alan
