Honestly sounds to me like an overheating GPU. Don't let the fan run at automatic. Make sure you set the fan speeds manually and run a faster fan speed when playing games. I have an XFX R9 390X 8GB that while playing certain games will run hot. If I leave the fan on automatic the computer will lock up like you said yours does. I have to set my fan manually at 90% when I start certain games. Try the fan thing first. You can also take the side panel off of your computer case for a while just to test the heat theory. But I bet your issues are a problem with GPU heat.

Done as you asked, exlcuding the BIOS update for now.

The Virtual Memory was by default set to 'automatically manage paging file size for all drives', but I configured it to my displayed custom parameters in the above screenshot a couple of days ago in hopes that it would stop the freezing, but it hasn't.

That was one of the first options I explored, whether it was a heat related issue. But it doesn't make sense how I am also recieving freezes and hangs when idle on just desktop with minimal background applications open and GPU is at 40 or so degrees. Even something as trivial as opening the start menu shouldn't be causing problems for a GPU to warrant these kinds of symptoms.

I had a look through Event Viewer and found these 2 errors which came up during a freeze / hang that I had a couple of days ago. Does this help in identifying a possible culprit in any way?

    1) For startup and recovery system failure:
    a) uncheck automatically restart
    b) reboot to maintain settings

    2) For virtual memory:
    a) move the dot from custom size to system manage size
    b) check the box to automatically manage paging file size for all drives
    c) reboot to maintain settings

The above settings can be modified after the troubleshooting has completed.

Can you boot any LiveCD to rule out your system vs hardware? Do some tests there to check if machine shuts down or not. If not, then your system is corrupted or something.

I've tried the troubleshooting stuff if that's what you're referring to by tests, and didn't experience any PC shutdowns.

Mine freezes too every now and then. Even after I performed a clean install of 1903. It'll hang just after Windows gets done loading, then I have to hold down the power button to turn it off manually and turn it back on. Happens once or twice a week. I'm not sure if I have bad RAM or what. I don't have the patience to run a RAM Diagnostic tests.

What are your powerplan settings? Try disabling everything (hibernation, suspend...)

Powerplan is set to high performance, and everything disabled that would cause any automatic shutdowns, sleeps, hibernations, or any of the sort.
