    Windows 10 PC freezing randomly

    Hi,

This post is both a bug report and a theoretical solution.

    ISSUE:
Windows 10 is freezing sporadically. The mouse stops moving for a few seconds. Everything stops. Then it resumes again.
After 30 seconds, it repeats. Freeze. Then it works again.

    HYPOTHETICAL SOLUTION:
Go to "Windows Update". Check for updates. Install updates. Reboot.

I have observed this fixes it, on my laptop.

You may wonder if the drivers and/or system files were not correct, why did the problem only just appear yesterday? What happened yesterday?

It could be the msft developers have built-in a freezing mechanism, to force you to update.

    Update:
That theoretical solution seemed very compelling to me, and appeared to work.
However after some time the freezing issue returned.

I've tried something else, and the new solution has been effective so far.
The downloads folder was very full. Many many GB's.
    C:\Users\_Your_Name_\Downloads
Moved everything there to another folder.
    C:\Users\_Your_Name_\Downloads is now basically empty.
The reasoning is the antivirus and other system processes were scanning that folder from time to time, and it was getting bogged down. With nothing to scan, it goes quickly.

    Update:
All of those were incorrect. They seemed to work because the freezing didn't happen for X number of days.
What appears to have solved it, was disabling a faulty ethernet port in the Device Manager. We'll see if that must be revised.
