    windows search question?

I found that if I have a file with name, for example 1234.mp4 then I 'll be able to find it with searching keyword 1234

but if a file is with name, for example a1234.mp4, and I search with keywords 1234, then I won't be able to find out the file.

    Any way to fix this?

I don't know too much about this, yet I agree with you. It's slightly inconvenient. I don't think it used to be this way back in the XP days.

Suppose that I have a file name: 123456789
Then I have to start the search entry with: 1234 .... etc
And once I start typing the beginning of that file name, I will see 123456789 eventually.

    But if I type: 2345
Then it will not find: 123456789

One thing that I know that works is you can type a star before the center part of the filename.
    So if I type: *345
Then Windows Search will find the file: 123456789

So in your scenario, you would have to type: *1234

(additional edit: You only need to use one star in the beginning, not one star for each character. So in your example, all these entries will find your result. Yet the more latter you go, then the more possibilities of files will show up:

If you search for *4, you're gonna have hundreds of results with the number 4 in the filename.

will find your file. You don't have to type the rest of the filename)

I don't use Windows search anymore ... I go with "search everything" program (some times called everything).
It takes a bit of time to do the first index but after its lightning quick.
you can download it here under other catagory.

Personally I use a third party start menu replacement with it's own built in search.
