    Hi there
    @stevehendo34

    To get it quicker you could also use one of the insider builds via UUPDUMP -- the latest 18895 build (20H1) has definite improvements to WSL -- however do backup existing system first and remember that the preview releases might well have defects that may cause your system not to work always as expected !!! -- Unless though you have really exotic hardware or do a mega mount of tinkering these builds usually are quite functional for a development / test system --I wouldn't rely on them if you need a reliable computer for normal daily use though !!!

    You could also install these builds as Virtual machines if you have a decent enough main computer of course.

    Cheers

    Question..... that date, the 21st, she mentioned. Was that an indication from her, a Microsoft employee, that the 21st was, in fact, the unannounced official release date? I'm speculating here, but that is curious she would say that.

    Or just install Cygwin. It's free. And it's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than WSL.
    The latter is missing so much of Linux that I gave it up. It has a long way to go.

    Meanwhile Cygwin has over 25 years of maturity under its belt.
    You'd swear you were running a Linux system.
