My One Drive is almost full.

I have just had an email from Microsoft telling me that my One Drive is almost full and an invite to upgrade it.
That's fine, but I never wanted it in the first place and would rather get rid of it altogether. Microsoft, like a lot of other organisations take it for granted that everybody wants exactly what they are keen to promote. It reminds me of the Rolling Stones singing (I can't get no) Satisfaction.

Not sure what your question is here. You don't want to get mails form microsoft anymore or did maybe someone else send the mais pretending to be microsoft? Just add the e-mail to the block mails settings in your e-mail.

I am not sure how to finish with using One Drive. I will look at the email to see if it looks fishy.

Now it gets confusing, I thought I ought to back up the documents to DVD before getting rid of One Drive. They are mostly pdf's and Kmz's from Google earth, plus an odd assortment, none of which are vital to me. I put the lot on a DVD and it only used up 184mb. They definately work from the DVD, as I could access them even with the internet cable disconnected. A lot less than I expected, any ideas?
By the way, the email looks genuine: email@mail.one drive.com

I get one like that couple times a week, whenever I go over 80%, which is most all of the time. I just ignore it and delete what I don't need to share. 'Ztruker' gave you a tutorial on how to disable

    "

If that's the case, just back files up to a thumb drive/DVD then move them to regular 'This PC' folders. Also, make sure you're not unintentionally using Onedrive by opening Onedrive/Settings and making the default 'Save' locations for Pictures, Videos, etc normal folders vs Onedrive folders.
Although the email is most assuredly genuine, I have no idea why Onedrive would bug you, at all, as the default space included with Win10, I believe, is 5gb/ 5,000mb. I have 30gb which is almost 90% full all the time with pictures and movies that I share.

After disabling OneDrive from the tutorial link above, maybe you can log into your one drive: https://onedrive.live.com
I have OneDrive disabled on my computer, yet my Microsoft account is always logged on. So when I went to that site, it automatically took me to the homepage of my shares (where there's nothing there). I would go there and check what's in there. I guess it's your choice if you want to remove the files that may be left over there, if any.

FWIW, I got an extra 100 GB for two years when I changed my phone to a Samsung.

What a childish set of comments. MS never forced you to use OneDrive and now you are whinging because it is nearly full and MS have audacity to warn you!

Why is your OneDrive storage full if you aren't interested in using it?
