    Dragging maximized window to lower monitor loses maxmization

    My two monitors are mounted vertically, A on the top, B on the bottom. When I drag a maximized window from B to A, it auto-maximizes on A if I release the drag right at the top of the monitor due to SNAP's "arrange windows automatically when dragged to top of screen". But there seems to be NO WAY to drag a maximized window from A to B. It loses its maximized state no matter what. I fear this inability is a feature not a bug! Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

    I cannot move any window once it is maximized (1 to 2 or 2 to 1). I also have auto snap off. Experiment with WIN + up or down arrow ??

    I run a triple monitor setup, side by side. I can drag a maximized window from monitor to monitor. If I just drop it in the center its not maximized. If I bump it to the top it maximizes.

    Yes that's thanks to the Win10 SNAP feature of "arrange windows automatically when dragged to top of screen", where the mouse hits a wall if you will at the top of each monitor. But my experience with vertical monitors is that it only applies to the top monitor, which is why I'm posting the question. Seems like microsoft has forsaken those with vertically mounted multiple monitors.

    I should mention, the feature actually DOES work for me if I take enough time to do this:

    drag the window down into the second monitor area, then inch the mouse up toward the very top row of pixels on that monitor, then pause for a second while positioned exactly on that top row. Not one pixel above or below it. And if you do go above it you have to go back down toward the center of the monitor and re-approach the top row again. At THAT point, the snap feature does indeed kick in and you become maximized. But because of the degree of precision required for all that the feature is pretty much useless because its very difficult to do all that in fewer than several seconds.

    The feature was clearly designed for monitors which have a mouse-boundary on the top edge, so you can just slam the mouse into that boundary which activates the feature.

    Yeah, I kind figured out what was happening with your setup after I posted, as you say its because you have one on top of the other.

    The other way to do it is with the Windows key and the arrow keys. Windows key + shift + ^ (up arrow) or v (down arrow).

    @johnhoh

    Off-set the layout, just a bit, then what you desire should work...

    If the two displays are different sizes bumping to a top or bottom "corner" should work? My mouse hits a wall when in the corner of my largest monitor. It's my center monitor. I have to go down slightly to go from monitor to monitor. I have the bottoms all lined up level.

    That sounds like it should have worked. Just tried it several times in a few minutes though and it worked only about 1 out of 3 times and for some reason the other 2 times it would resize to take up only the upper quadrant of the lower monitor. I don't have a windows key so the keyboard shortcut isn't an option either
