Cannot hide file extensions - Bitdefender

I installed Bitdefender Total Security 2019 yesterday and just realized today that the file extensions are showing. When I try to hide the extensions, it doesn't work. I realize that Bitdefender is the culprit but is there any way to get around this without uninstalling it?

For security reasons file extension should be not hidden as some malware hides there file extensions for example file named "virus.jpg.exe" will appear to you as "virus.jpg". This behaviour is hazardous, and can potentially cause you to double-click on file like "virus.jpg", thinking that it is just a picture, when it is actually a program "virus.jpg.exe" which you would never have clicked had you really known the filename.

    As stated, this isn't a bug, it's a feature https://forum.bitdefender.com/index....wn-files-help/

Hmm... I see. Thanks for letting me know.

We figured it out! I contacted Bitdefender customer support and we communicated by email. He sent me a tool that cleans the system of any remnants of Avast. After running the tool in Safe Mode and rebooting, I found that the issue was resolved. When I chose to hide the extensions and hit Apply, they hide themselves like they're supposed to. I'm relieved to have finally found a solution to this problem because I was considering switching to another antivirus though I did not want to.

Hello timucin, and welcome to Ten Forums.

It would most likely be the avastclear tool below from Avast.

As Freebooter implied, why hide the file extensions?

    Hello, thank you.

By the way I've never ever installed any other antivirus software before bitdefender. I formatted system and later on installed bitdefender. In that case is it sensible to thing that any tool like this works? Coz there isn't any remedy of other softwares. I think it's is kind of bug for bitdefender to prevent to hide file extensions.
