Inaccurate assesment of hard drive space.

I have been unable to reload Windows 10 because my memory, according to the message, indicates, I don't have enough storage. When I access "Storage"- it reveals my hard drive in nearly full. However, it shows approximately 79 gigs remaining out of 500 gigs. It has been stuck on this number, even though I removed over 300 gigs of photos and files... I have deleted almost everything but it still shows I have the same amount data. I have done the YouTube thing and the "Help" guys are good...but when I try to follow their procedures to fix the problem....it stops and says...you don't have enough memory.I have deleted everything - files pictures - I don't have 400 gigs of anything....where is all this data....it doesn't add up when I break down the various programs....this was a Windows 8 Computer initially....changed to windows 10..

Hello, and welcome to Ten Forums!

    1) Open File ExplorerRight click on your Hard DriveProperties
    2) At the top, press the Tools tab
    3) Under Error checking, press the Check button
    4) If a message pops up saying you don't have to scan the drive, press the Scan drive button
    5) Wait for that to finish, anything happened?
