    SSD and Windows FastStartup

I have a 128 GB SSD. My Desktop PC doesn't seem to have any issues with the default setting-Windows Fast Start up enabled in Power Options. Hibernate is disabled by default. Allow Hybrid Sleep is enabled by default.
Im not interested in Hibernate at all or Hybrid sleep to be honest. I know that both of these options will mean that there is excessive writing to the SSD and Im concerned about wear and tear on the drive. I think Hybrid Sleep has to be enabled or Windows Fast Startup would have to be disabled meaning I wouldn't be able to use it. I would like to keep Windows Fast Startup enabled.
Am I correct in thinking that if I go into power options and change the default sleep setting from 30 minutes to Never that it will mean Hybrid sleep will never be used so it wont be writing anything to the SSD?
I fully shut down my PC and unplug it every evening. Im aware that Windows Fast Startup will still do some writing to the drive on Windows Shutdown so will the fact that Hybrid Sleep is enabled mean that there will still be excessive writing to the SSD anyway due to the fact that Windows Fast Startup is enabled? I have no idea how much writing to the SSD windows fast startup has to do..is it going to be about the same as Hybrid Sleep would do anyway?

I concluded on my SSD based PCs that fast start-up isn't much benefit so I disabled it and also hibernation which I never use - use the command powercfg -h off

Enable or Disable Hibernate in Windows 10

I agree. powrcfg -h -off on all my computers with SSDs.

I disable Fast Startup for all my PCs. Not a big deal about performance and it can cause weird issues.

So all of you guys disable Windows Fast Start Up and also disable Hibernation. What about Hybrid Sleep?
That is enabled by default on Desktop PC's. If I understand Hybrid Sleep correctly. Every time the PC goes into normal Sleep mode..Hybrid Sleep is used instead.

If I do decide like you guys to stop using Windows Fast Startup Is it necessary to use the use the command powrcfg -h off to disable Hibernation or would it be enough to just turn off Windows Fast Start up in Power options and leave Hibernate set at Never which is its default setting anyway? If you don't completely disable Hibernation does the Hiberfil.sys file still get used and filled up somehow..i.e is it still kept as reserved space on the SSD so it doesn't become accessible to be used as additional free space on the SSD?

Hybrid Sleep is a useful option for an office environment, when set up correctly.

You should set up the regular sleep period at something like Five minutes, and the Hibernate setting to around thirty Minutes. this means that a user leaves the system unattended and goes off for some reason, after five minutes the system blanks the screen and if set requires a password to access. After the set thirty minutes the system will go into Hibernation, which saves money in keeping an unused system on and secures he system more completely.

If the user returns in the first five minutes the system will resume in the exact same place as it was where it was left, if the return is in the Hibernation period the resume will take a little longer but will again be back where it was left.

Of course the parameters for this setup can be varied to suit the working practices in place

Unless you are using cheap SSD's with no DRAM and/or SLC/3D cache as boot drives I wouldn't worry too much about how much cache/writing goes on.
Just manually engage sleep/hibernate when needed if you don't want to use fast startup (which can be turned off independently).
I use hibernate when I'm popping out for an hour or so on my desktop (SSD boot), saves a few seconds.

A bigger concern for me is the integrity of the local power supply, always some major works going on locally and brownouts or full dropouts are an issue, I must get an inline UPS soon. (Which is also why hybrid sleep makes sense on a desktop, not that many people have inline UPS' or battery/capacitor backed RAM and ECC is generally a workstation/server thing...).

My PC is a desktop not a laptop. Does the powrcfg -h -off command disable hibernate or hybrid sleep?

Disables both because it also deletes the hiberfil.sys file. That's why I like to use it. Gets rid of a 6.8GB file off my SSD.

According to that tutorial, the correct command is powrcfg -h off
    --- My mistake: it's powercfg -h off

I know my comment is repetitive but I brought that up because post #8 is -off vs off
"My PC is a desktop not a laptop. Does the powrcfg -h -off command disable hibernate or hybrid sleep?"
