Way I understand things the 75% of RAM is the Default for the Page file rather than hiberfil.sys. hiberfil.sys is only of use if it can contain all the RAM in use ... With hibernation enabled, at the point of shutdown, all the RAM is "Dumped" into the hiberfil.sys File, when the system is rebooted the reverse process is actioned to give the RAM in the exact same state as on shutdown.

One other thing is to be careful with the Page File, even today where 16GB RAM is fairly common, the page file is still needed, although it can be reduced to some small figure (500MB) as some programs are designed to use the file even when not required by low available RAM

I have 16gb of ram on my machine. I don't mess with the page file and leave it in auto, though I've changed it manually before short term for troubleshooting a problem I had with some software. Windows always allots 3gb on my system. The hiberfile.sys has been similar to memory size on my machine when I've noticed it, a lot of disk space to use for basically nothing. So if nothing else it's good to free that up by disabling hibernation.

I don't have any worry about disk space, my main Data store currently has 3½ TB Unallocated space (plus the unused space that exists in the various partitions ), and I have two 3TB drives read to expand the space If/when I need it, so I leave the 32GB hiberfil.sys as it is.

I rarely shut down this system anyway, (apart for planned maintenance), and when I do, I hibernate, to be sure I can start up where I left off.

The only impact is to C:\partition, the rest doesn't matter.

Mike, I have 330GB+ free on my system drive, with the hiberfile.sys in place so again it's a non issue ... "For Me"

Three of one terabyte NVMe drives in raid maybe? That would be sick fast, expensive too.

I have about 15TB in disks but only about 4TB is online all the time. Trying to keep OS drive as small as and as fast possible (Samsung 960 evo, 250GB) filled just over half capacity to have fast backup. Skippy resides in a SATA SSD, 120 gb and has just minimum programs installed, also for fast and small backups.
Looking to replace 1TB HDD with an M.2 SSD, 1TB for temporary storage (downloads, tests an online backup for MR), prices are falling fast. Too much of slow online storage tends to slow down everything.

Yeah I just installed a terabyte Samsung 970 Evo Plus, that thing is crazy fast, scores over 3k on both seq read and seq write in Crystal Disk Mark, still a bit pricey though.

Hi, Do you mean you go into the BIOS setup and disable Fast Boot? Or do you mean you disable Windows Fast Startup in Power Options settings?
