DVD recording wont finalize

Hi all

Advice please.

I am trying to burn a DVD+R RW Philips DVD with some pic's for a friend. I've done this loads of times before, albeit in the past, and never had a problem.

I am choosing CD/DVD in burn option not USB. I've tried different software and produced both UDF and CDFS
file system disks.

Win 10 doesn't give me Close/Finalize option in menu (it's not even there) on any burns.

Have tried different disks and the the burn process all goes well but the properties box show some space still available on all DVDs so they aren't closed, also they don's play in normal DVD player.

I've tried different burning on different PC, and tried different brand of DVD in other PC, but same result.

I've tried InfraRecorder and get close option but doesn't Finalize.

I must be forgetting to do something or losing the plot somewhere, so any help gratefully accepted before I burn through a 100 DVDs.

Use a DVD+R (not RW). Should be able to use the built in burn capability of Win 10. Select the pics, right click and Send to and choose the DVD R/W drive as the target.

CD-DVD/RW discs must first be Formatted (erased) before you can add data to them. After burning DVDRW you must Close the disc. CD-DVD/RW discs have a limited amount or rewrites before they fail. As stated, try using a DVD-+R disc, whichever is supported by your burner, you may have to try a few different brands before you find a good one. You may also want to use a 3rd party app, like the free CDBurner XP.

Nope, did all that (again) it burns the files then comes up with window saying finish and ejects the DVD.
Put DVD back in and click Finish burning and I get message saying "No files to burn"

Life used to be so simple in the old days :-(

Okay formatted DVD first and then burnt files, all OK and I at l wast can now see close session when i right click on dvd it says closing session and then closed dvd able to be used on other computers etc. but actually it still inst closed and shows 325MB still available as free!

PS I'm using brand new DVD's each time

Why are you using DVD/RW discs? As has been suggested 3 times so far, use a plain DVD+R disc, not a DVD/RW.

rewriteable dvds aren't meant to be closed , they are kind of like flash drives to be re written over.
they are great for updating backups or rescue disks .
After you have burnt the disk it says finished en ejects the disk, place it back in drive and open file explorer
and see if the files are there. may be click on a few and see if they were written correctly.
If so you are ready to go.

Okay, am in Portugal and all DVD +R disks on sale are RW. Looked at all my old DVDs and they are RW too. However found an old Roxio software disk in the drawer and this closed/finalised one of my burns. Thanks to everyone for advice.
