Well, Windows 10 is very tolerant of being moved from one computer to another. You could make a backup image of your C: drive partition of the laptop, saved to an external hard drive with a program such as Macrium Reflect Free. Then restore that image over the top of the C: drive of the desktop. The only usual concern would be that the SATA controllers are both set to the same mode, should be AHCI. Then Windows would pick up the new hardware of the desktop, install drivers, and you would be exactly synced with the laptop. Make a backup image of the desktop to restore if it doesn't work.

As long as both the laptop and desktop have the same edition of Windows 10 (IE: Home or Pro), activation will not be an issue.

um, I have been looking at MC's option lets you sync all computers rather than use local option. I am not sure I understand it though. will it do what I asked you about? I "think" if I use myaccount(notsure of actual working) it is supposed to sync my stuff to all my laptops(2). I just want to be sure I do it right or find out it can't do what I want>

If you are talking about syncing through a Microsoft Account, that is very limited. You get a few personalization settings that carry over such as background image, but not much.

There's a bit more than that:

    • Theme: desktop background, user tile, taskbar position, etc.
    • Internet Explorer Settings: browsing history, typed URLs, favorites, etc.
    • Passwords: Windows credential manager, including Wi-Fi profiles
    • Language Preferences: spelling dictionary, system language settings
    • Ease of Access: narrator, on-screen keyboard, magnifier
    • Other Windows Settings: account picture, command prompt, Date, Time, and Region, taskbar, keyboard, mouse
    • Microsoft Edge browser setting: Microsoft Edge favorites, reading list, and other settings

    But programs are not synced.
