Window 10 keeps changing window sizes

As I always like to work with 2 screens I adjust both my 'windows' to 50%.
For example: Firefox on the left, and some (random) folder on my computer on the right.

I know that I can drag the windows to the left/right to auto adjust it but that doesn't cut it for me.
I constantly have to re-adjust it manually.

Now everytime I am not active on the computer windows 10 keeps scaling the windows down to a smaller size:

and it really starts to annoy me that I both have to re-scale the window sizes and to hear that annoying sound everytime it happens.
Is there a way I can disable this auto-scaling from the different 'windows'?

(ps. I'm aware of the similar other topic about it, https://www.tenforums.com/general-su...ing-sizes.html but that didn't help me, at all)

    Thanks in advance.

to hear that annoying sound everytime it happens.
Hi, that's not something I'm familiar with - nor your symptom, so personally I'd not think of these as typical of Windows.

What happens if you do a clean boot? Do you see any difference?

And if you create a new user for test purposes and log in as that user.. do you see the same problem occurring?

    1. I don't reboot often, but I will post a reply when I do.
    2. I prefer not to do that as it always leave additional folders and registry keys I don't want to have.

The second is a fundamental test of whether this is particular to a user profile or to Windows, and dictates which way to proceed.

If you are worried about that, you could create and restore a registry backup, or use System Restore (hoping that the restore works) or create a disk image before the test, and restore it afterwards.

(You are best advised to use disk imaging routinely- so often recommended here).

And note: extraneous registry keys are created almost inevitably when uninstalling programs- authors are not 100% effective at writing their uninstaller. Such keys do no harm and do not affect performance.

This is happening to me as well.
I've always got two windows side by side like you. But then it seems randomly that they'll resize to something slightly smaller or bigger, several times through out the day. Not really sure what's going on.
I've been doing this for 4 or 5 years and this is the first time I've seen it do this.
