    Hi all.
I need some feedback from other users about what happens on my PC when it is first powered on. Sometimes, when I press the power button on my Desktop PC the power button light comes on and I can here everything firing up (fan etc) but the monitor remains black for several seconds and nothing happens. Then the PC switches itself off again (I can hear the fan turning itself off). The power light on the front of the PC then goes out for a second then turns itself back on. After its done this it always boots into Windows without a problem. This doesn't happen on every boot up. Maybe 1 in every 5 or more bootups.
Is this normal? Does it happen on any of the PC's that you guys have? Tech Support have told me that this is perfectly normal but its something Ive never noticed before on any other PC's that Ive owned.

Some specs on your system could help a bit.
After the computer has been up for while do you experience any stuttering, freezes, screen flickers or the like?

What is the mother board gigerbyte boards can do this if the BIOS is corrpted as they have duel BIOS and then boot from second one. Open the case and press down on top of cpu then turn on see if it starts ok the fan heat sink not tight enough can cause this

    Its a 3 month old Dell 8th Gen i7 8700, 8 GB DDR4 2666mhz, 128GB SSD + 1 TB standard HD, Nvidia GeForce 1050 GTX 1050T with Windows 10 Home.
Theres no stuttering, freezes, screen flickering, no failures in booting or anything like that. No problems at all. Everything is working perfectly.

I don't know what type of motherboard it is. Its a Dell desktop PC so Im guessing that Dell manufacture their own motherboards. I have the BIOS set to defaults. A couple of days ago I spoke to Dell Tech Support who told me that it is working as it supposed to. They said that during POST it checks all hardware and settings. They reckon that when the PC turns itself off for a couple of seconds during bootup and turns itself straight back within a couple of seconds that it is normal behaviour and that is normal for it to happen every few boots (in my case its been every 5 or more boots). They said that if it was doing it maybe two thirds of the time then that wouldn't be normal. I was just wanting to know if other users had ever seen this on their systems?

    1) Update the specs in the "My Computer" section:

System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums | Tutorials
System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums | Tutorials
In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'.
After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.
System Info - See Your System Specs - Windows 7 Help Forums
System Info - See Your System Specs - Windows 7 Help Forums

Include PSU. cooler, case, peripherals and anything attached to the computer by wired or wireless (mouse, keyboard, headset, printer, xbox, USB wireless network card, etc.)

Run the Dell diagnostics. This checks the hardware and displays information if any drivers need updating.

In the next 30 days the next Windows upgrade should be released and after an upgrade you can reevaluate the computer with the new operating system and registry.

If problems persist these are some options:

    a) Use clean boot to see whether there are any applications impacting the boot
Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts | Tutorials

    b) Download and install Windows Performance Recorder (WPR) > run a boot trace > it may take time to have the traces evaluated

There is a log collector that is used in another forum.
Run the BETA log collector and post a zip into this thread:

Open task manager (control + alt + del) > click startup tab > post an image into the thread

Thanks mate. I think I'll trust what the Dell technicians have told me. They say that everything is working as it should be and the double POST that I get every few boots is perfectly normal and expected. I don't know whether this affects the regularity of the double POST or not but When Ive finished using my PC I always fully shut down the PC using Windows shutdown. I also turn off the power on the power strip. I was hoping some of you guys on here were seeing the same thing happening on their PC's but so far nobody has verified this yet
