I start my computer using the physical on/off button and I shut it down just the same. Same goes with my lights in my home, appliances, power tools, or any other electrical appliance. My car even has an on/off switch.

I'd like to see a GUI choice at install time rather like W2012 server --- Cmd line, Basic GUI, Full GUI.
The W2012 server only gives you the FULL GUI if you add "Desktop experience" to the install. W9 could have choices based on these - W8 phone, Tablet, Desktop, Complete or something similar.
If I'm installing the OS say on a Windows tablet or a phone I don't need the full desktop stuff, but on a desktop I want the choice.
I'd also like an easier method for REMOTE SHUT DOWN / REMOTE POWER ON / REMOTE RE-BOOT too.

I'd like to say a subscription free Windows. Just pay an off the shelf price and no monthly/ yearly payments. I also hope they will not make the mistake to make it an always online OS.
Besides that I do like the Metro UI in combination with the desktopmodus. So I hope both will excist in Windows 9.

I'd like to see it so that a tile opens up multiple executives. e.g. If I'm going to estimate a building project, it would open up an Excel template, a calculator, a browser, Notepad, PDF blueprint, hourly estimating reference, or anything else I need. One could create a tile for each project one works on to reopen each time.

Save your batch file anywhere you want to, I saved this small batch which opens Excel and Calculator as Project_Tools.bat in my Documents folder. Create a shortcut for your batch in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs.
Now open the Charms Search, search for your shortcut:
Right click it, select Pin to Start:
That's it. You now have a Start Screen Tile which opens all your tools, apps and programs with a single click.

Well that is very interesting. I wonder if it will work with Hyper V server (the free one I mean)... The link is unclear if only full server will allow this.
I'm downloading it now and will convert my 8.1 installation to VHD and try it. It would be great if it did - I could replace my laptop and not have to change anything at all if the whole lot is virtualised.
Edit: The free Hyper-V server is command line only. Although I suppose it could be done I could not figure out how to install required drivers for bluetooth and WWAN.
