    Date separator in Downloads folder

So i just updated my Win10 to 1903 on the slow track. After doing so i have date separators in my downloads folder that i can't get rid off. it's driving me crazy, my downloads are separated like email - today, yesterday, etc.

I've reset the folder view numerous times but the separators remain. i've tried changing the info in the submenu arrow in the modified column but that doesn't help. Sorting by name or type just sorts them all under their date.

How can i get rid of those date separators?

If you click view tab, then within View ribbon, "Group by". How is yours set.

Details, like it's always been, changed it to List and the sorting is worse, and the separators remain. And this only affects the downloads folder, Documents, Desktop, and other default folders don't show this.

Oh you said Group By, read that wrong. Date Modified, if i change it to Name or something else the date separators are still there.

I have carried out these actions on my downloads folder for Win 10 1903 (many, many times now) and they last for a few minutes but then they are reverted to grouping by date again. Has anyone else found this and found the solution - I guess there must be a registry setting that is defaulting to this irritating view. I just want a simple descending list by name as I have always had

You can go group by icon in menu bar in download folder. Then click it and select "none".

    Thanks

yeah been there done that, please read the whole thread.

    Update to this problem:
when saving a file using any program (MS Office or 3rd party software) the navigation view shows the date seperators, even though they're set to none in the folder.

I can't find any ways to fix that. Ideas?

In the Open/Save dialog, right-click in the background select Group by > (None).
