    touch screen desktop

Kind of a misleading subject but...

My wife has a laptop with Windows 10 pro. She kind of likes the Metro (?) desktop and would like to get rid of the 'classic' desktop.

Is there anyway to do that? Or hide it? she says she "doesn't know why it's there" and it seems to switch over to the classic view when she least wants it.

    Hello @DWFII,

It sounds like you are wanting to keep Tablet mode turned on.

If so, check the settings in the tutorials below to set them for this.

Use Tablet Mode or Desktop Mode when you Sign in to Windows 10

I think that both desktop mode and tablet mode are active on her laptop. I am pretty sure the laptop opens in tablet mode.

If I understand correctly, she wants to hide desktop mode so that she doesn't accidentally get dumped into it when exiting programs such as Firefox. In fact, I would go out on a limb and say she doesn't want to see desktop mode ever again...

I would just simply add the tile to the Action Center so she can easily toggle on, if mistakenly on desktop with 2 clicks (or taps). Click Action Center then 'Manage notifications' at top to get the 'Add' menu shown.

Add or Remove Quick Actions in Action Center in Windows 10

So...I guess the answer is "no, you can't get rid of desktop mode"....

You can't get rid of it, but you can choose to use tablet mode by default.
