Strange Issue - Ribbon missing IE and Fiel Explorer Windows 10 1809

    Hi Guys,
Sorry this is my first post, so anything I am missing please let me know.

I ahve had a strange issue with a couple of machines recently in that the ribbon for both IE and File Explorer are missing and all you can see is the desktop (Please see attached). However upon restarting the machine, it will return to normal and then after a while will revert.

    Actions taken:
I have ran an SFC scan
    Tried a chkdsk
Checked for any drive updates or any windows updates

    Thanks,
    Liam

    Hi, I'd suggest you try
    a. A clean boot (no startups) as a first step to see if anything is interfering. (Still leaves any scheduled tasks).
    b. For test purposes, create a new user, log in as that user, and see if you see the same thing.
    c. If you still see the same issue after a & b, check it does not occur in Safe Mode

Basically, try to find a state where it does not occur to
    a. Verify it's not Windows corruption
    b. Create a situation you can compare with your normal user when this does not happen, in the hope of identifying something interfering.

    Liam,

I suggest going to your computer maker's website and downloading then installing the latest display driver. [Just running a check for updates in Device manager is not enough - if the display driver is malfunctioning then Device manager might not detect that].

Does this happen in other programs? And is it only when the window is maximized?
