removing files from the download folder...

I have 2 separate folders for downloads - This PC/downloads and C:/Users/username/downloads. The content seems to be the same - programs, updates, fonts etc.

Today I ran AdvancedSystem Care (I know a lot you you are totally against this program!!), and it found more than 3 Gb of files (junk) to clean in C:/Users/username/downloads to make more space on the hard disk. The files in question are practically the complete content of this particular folder.

If I do delete these files, will they also be deleted from This PC/downloads? I want to retain all of them, especially since I'll probably have to change computers before the end of the year. But if they're just copies, then I'll get rid of them.

    Hello,

The folders on the left panel, and those which are "This PC" are the sames. It's like shortcuts to avoid you to go into C:\Users\username\Downloads

You can try to download a file (whatever it is) and then delete it to see if it deletes on both sides, or you can make a copy of one file in the folder, and then delete the file to test it. Then you can restore the copied file.

    Have a nice day :)

They are the same, if you delete they will be gone on both.

That's because, as Yseurk said, they are just two different names that point to the same folder.

So does Windows own 'Disk Clean-up'. These days you have to be very careful if you don't want to loose your downloads by accident.

Thank you all for your feedback. I figured that both folders were identical, but wanted to be sure before deleting content.
