    Cortana/start menu/task bar not working

Cortana or the searchui process are not in my task manager, so I ran a sfc /scannow. I have no idea how to tell what it's saying in the log, but I can see it found some corrupted files.

I was going to attach it but the size limit is 2mb, and my log is 8mb. What should I do?

Hi,if you look at the end of the log file, does it say it repaired everything or could not do so? It would have told you on the screen too.

Assuming that it failed, from an admin command or Powershell prompt run
    chkdsk c: /scan
and note the result. If it fails, post back.

If ok, then you can follow the steps in the tool in post #2 here:
Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk - Windows 10 Forums

or you can try an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs, data and most settings
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade | Tutorials- you need an iso of the same build, base language and 'bitness' as your current build.
    - using a more recent build will be an upgrade.

    Other approaches:
    - try System Restore if you have that enabled and a restore point before the problem occurred. However restoring is unreliable but does no damage if it fails to complete.- if you routinely use disk imaging as we so often urge users to do (Macrium Reflect - free) then restore a previously created image of C:Using disk imaging means you have a good chance of recovery from problems without tech. help, and can save much time.

    Large files:
compress (zip) then upload. But think before doing so.. someone has to spend time reading them...
