    In case the troubleshooting does not fix the failure to boot options may include:
    a) backing up files to another drive or to the cloud followed by clean install
    b) reset save files equivalent

    Find several flash drives that you can format: ( > or= 8 GB)

    An iso for Windows 10 1809 should be able to be used.
    These are options to create older Windows iso:

    Windows Download - #1 Windows ISO Download Source
    Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool
    TechBench by WZT (v4.1.1)

    We can uninstall the aswElam.sys driver.

    Execute following command to displays information about all drivers in an offline C: partition:

    Code:
    Dism /image:C:  /get-drivers
    From the list found the Published Name of the aswElam.sys driver. Execute following command but replace oem1.inf with Published Name of the aswElam.sys driver.

    Code:
    Dism /image:C:  /remove-driver  /driver:oem1.inf

    I tried just now but:

    ”Error: 2

    An error occurred. The driver store for the image could not be opened.”

    I’m thinking of resetting it but keeping files per zbook’s tip now

    Looking for single language 1703 ISO’s only show 1709.

    What do I do if this is the case?

    Also, how do I make a Windows setup USB from a Mac?

    @Bree may know.

    From Frequently Asked Questions
    Code:
    I'm running a Mac and get an error message when I click Download Tool Now. What's wrong?

    The media creation tool (Download Tool Now button) will not run on a Mac device. You can still download an ISO file with one of these options: Windows 8.1 or Windows 10. This will give you a web-based download option that should run on most browsers.

    What happened with uninstalling the AV driver using the dism command?

    What are you planning with the iso?

    My only concern is that if I reset using a 1709 ISO instead of a 1703 ISO, is it okay without breaking something?

    Also, I’m out of the country on the 28th/29th, so I need this issue fixed before then

    What language do you need? The Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool offers the following ISOs for 1703 Single Language.

    Computer in automatic repair loop - aswElam.sys is cause-image.png

    As a test I generated the link for the French ISO which was for the Win10_1703_SingleLang_French_x64.iso from software-download.microsoft.com.

    I can't specifically tell you how to make a bootable USB from the ISO on a Mac, but I've seen it done in Linux so it should be possible. The basic principle is that you have to prepare the USB. It must have an MBR partition layout with a Fat32 partition that is marked Active. In Linux you can do that with gparted. Then you mount the ISO as a virtual drive and copy all the files/folders to the USB. For Linux use:

    $ sudo -s
    # mount -o loop <ISO file> /mnt
    # cd /mnt
    # cp -r * <USB>
