Are you sure? You're last screenshot was of the Navigation Pane, showing the Desktop folder under This PC. My screenshot is of the droplist from the Address bar. Note that I clicked on the '>' to the left of This PC' in the Address bar, not the Navigation Pane.

You haven't clicked anything yet. The Address bar still shows This PC. Post a screenshot of two explorer windows: one displaying just Desktop in the Address bar and one displaying This PC > Desktop:

Select the 'View' tab, then on the far left of the Ribbon, click 'Navigation Pane' and then check 'Show all folders':

Look at the Address Bar in your screenshot. It reads 'This PC > Desktop', so you're still viewing the Desktop folder under This PC.

Try clicking the 'up' arrow to the left of the Address Bar repeatedly until you get to the root Desktop:
