Logtransport2 error crashed my PC - whtever that is

I've never seen this before. But out of the blue, my computer just started shutting down and an error message popped up that said something like logtransport2.exe error. I did a search for this error and it seems to be somehow tied to Adobe but none of the sites that offered solutions or explanations looked safe to click on.

So does anyone know what this error is and how to fix it? My computer has been a bit wonky for a few days where the screens would seem to refresh and the computer would hiccup ever so briefly causing everything to freeze for a second.

So any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

logtransport2.exe is a process belonging to LogTransport Application from Adobe Systems that belongs to Adobe Acrobat, a group of software and web services created by Adobe, to create, view, modify and print files in the Portable Document Format (PDF). It should be located in the folder C:\Program Files\adobe\reader 9.0\reader, if it is not located there then you could have an infection on your computer. Adobe Reader is not a required program and can be uninstalled if you wish. There are other very good PDF readers that work quite well if you use or need a PDF reader. Nitro Reader is the free one I have used for several years.

    I use Sumatra PDF https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumatra_PDF

    It's free.

I used to use Adobe Acrobat, until it became such a big program and had so many services/programs running in the background... for no apparent reason. All that jibberish became annoying and took up computer memory for no reason, so I finally got rid of that program. Used to be the best PDF reader! Now that program is not good at all with everything that gets installed with it.

Sumatra PDF is very simple, opens up so quickly, and you can easily adjust the font size / scroll through the PDF / Print it / etc. Only a few megabytes big. It's perfect.

Thanks for the info. I actually don't have Reader on my computer. I use the full Acrobat 2017. I need it because I manipulate and rearrange pages and files all the time. If these other programs can do what Acrobat does, I will take a look. In the meantime, I will do a repair install to see if that helps with the problem.

The other programs will not do what Acrobat does for you.

See if there is an update to Acrobat. Check their support forums to see if anyone else is have the same problem and if their is a fix or work around available.

Thanks. That's what I figured. I can find no updates for the program and I can't find any reference to this particular exe in their support forums. I will continue to hunt. Thanks again.

Might be worth trying a uninstall and reinstall of Acrobat.

Could also look at Wondershare PDFelement. Supposedly a replacement for Acrobat. They have a $49 Standard and $79 Professional edition. I have no experience with it, just reporting what I find.

Wow I'm really out of date. I haven't upgraded my acrobat v9 version. does everything I need it to do
repairs, merges, edits, etc. . Other than bloatware I really haven't seen much improvement, so why
go the cost of an upgrade?
