    Can't Delete ISO File

I Can't Delete ISO File that I have on an external disk drive. It says "the action can't be completed because the file is open in system." This is an unopened video file.

    How can I delete it?

    Thanks.

Hi try a free tool such as Fileassassin, or possibly Emco MoveonBoot - which also deletes files.

Or you could boot to a command prompt and then delete it.

Fileassassin failed. How does the boot command function erase a file on a non-boot drive?

Thank you for your reply. Nothing whatsoever to do with a 'non-boot drive'.

Boot your PC to a command prompt.

Start the sequence to do that by SHIFT + left click restart and follow through the prompts.
Tutorial available if needed in Tutorial section which you are free to search and browse.

If you have a live boot disk to hand, you could boot your PC from that and thus delete the file.

    Hello Jim,

The ISO file may be mounted. If so, you should be able to delete the ISO file after unmounting (eject) it.

That did it. Thanks to both.
