[solved] Popping sound on boot - Laptop

    I own a Dell Inspiron i5577-7342BLK-PUS.

There seems to be a popping sound on boot, and it doesn't happen if the speakers are muted and I reboot. Is this normal, and will it damage the laptop? I sometimes forget to mute the speakers before a reboot or shutdown of the laptop, so... Any help is appreciated!

EDIT: Updated drivers from windows high definition audio drivers back to Realtek Audio, uninstalled SmartByte which was causing crackling audio (bad software thanks to Dell) and that fixes the issue. No more crackling audio + no more popping sound on bootup.

Have you install latest version of audio card driver from Dell manufacturer website.

I use Microsoft's High Definition Audio device because of Realtek's broken audio drivers. The speakers, when used with Realtek audio drivers, crackle and pop whenever playing audio. It happens for headphones and such as well. The issue has been gone ever since I started using Microsoft's audio drivers.

However, I have now noticed this popping sound on my laptop restart and boot up.

When you mute and there is no popping sound then popping sound is coming from Windows 10, installing audio card driver from Dell or audio card manufacturer website may resolve the popping sound.

That might be the case. However, is it damaging my laptop?
