Dual screen: dim one but not the other?

Dual screen: dim one but not the other?

I have an 8" tablet I use when I teach. It is connected wirelessly via a Microsoft Display Adapter to a projector.
Currently, both the tablet and the projector sleep after a few minutes. I then have to 'wake', login, re-connect to the projector, etc.
Is there a way to have the projector ALWAYS on, and my tablet screen can turn off until I touch it again? Not sleep where I have to log back in..
Or is the only solution to just have them both always on?

Surely that would be the best solution anyway?

It would probably help if you gave details of your tablet and what you hope to achieve. Is the screen on your tablet distracting you or are you trying to save battery? Or is the projector image distracting your class?

What do you want to be displayed on the projector when your tablet has turned off the screen? Presumably you don't want to send some screensaver pictures but perhaps you want to blank the screen.

Part of my job is training and I never turn off the projector. If I get stuck talking about one slide for half an hour the screen just stays the same (and everyone ignores it) until I move on. It would be distracting to everyone to change it to something else I would have thought.

In any case if the tablet is sleeping it can't send anything so for sure you need to turn sleep off.

Sure, it is a 2 hour class and my tablet is running on battery (hand held). Routinely the same 'slide' will stay up for 20 mins or so.. Having the tablet screen blank would be OK, but the projector needs to stay on..
No biggee, it sounds like I just need to make sure I have a full battery charge and set them to both stay on the full time.

I use laptop (plugged in) so it isn't really the same but perhaps you could try setting your screen to dim after a certain time (rather than sleep or turn off). That would save some battery and shouldn't affect projector but I think it is conditional on your hardware if the "Dim" option is available or not. For my laptop it isn't so I can't be sure.

See this tutorial Add or Remove Dim display after from Power Options in Windows | Tutorials

I have been using a laptop all this time, but the tablet works so much better since I can carry it and interact with it wherever I am in the classroom. The wireless display works great! It really opens opportunities I didn't have when I would have to walk back to the laptop just to scroll forward etc.
