    trouble recognizing .jpg files

I recently bought a new computer and transferred all of my old photos over, which are .jpg files. When I go in through my folders (thru my desktop, for example) they are there. When I go in through a website (to upload) or to load some pictures to a slideshow on my desktop, they disappear. I know they're there, and the thumbnails are there in the folders, but when open the folder, it's "empty." I have set the recommended photo viewer. The problem is not that they won't open, it is that they're not there. Thoughts?

Hi, perhaps you could post 2 or 3 screenshots to illustrate what you mean? Thanks

I think what he means is that he can't see or access some of his files in Open \ Save dialog boxes....

What I can think of went wrong is that maybe you copied them to the wrong userprofile maybe you copied them to the "All Users" or "Plublic" profile which would explain why you see them on your desktop but not in Open\Save dialog boxes.

They also could be in a folder in your OneDrive cloud storage

Thanks for your suggestions. I don't believe they're in the wrong profile or in OneDrive...I access them through "This PC/C drive." I've tried to attach 2 pics...hope it came through...

Hi, if you simply double click the folder 01 Jan, do you see your pictures?

In the 2nd screenshot it looks as if you've done a search for something matching the text:

    Search 01 Jan

which will only succeed if you have a file or folder matching that, or a text file containing that text that is below that point in the file hierarchy and whose content has been indexed.

It says 'No items match your search' - did you search for them?

It looks like in your 2nd pic that you are adding a folder to Slideshow for your desktop wallpaper. This will not show any of the pictures in the folder, you just select the folder with the pictures in it that you want the slideshow to use.

oh, yes, maybe I have to make a folder for that purpose. I am not searching for anything, just clicking on the folder. Now I see when I try to upload to Shutterfly, it will see my pictures if I click "All Files "." rather than the default which is "image/jpg." I guess since my file extension is .jpeg that's the problem. It sure makes things tedious....can I change this so that my computer will pull .jpeg files automatically without having to tell it "All Files" every time? trouble recognizing .jpg files-screen1.pngtrouble recognizing .jpg files-screen2.png
