    Cerawy,

    Yes, I understand that. What I am suggesting is that you find out something about the properties of any one of the folders/files showing that incorrect icon.

    Choose one of them, any one of them, it does not matter which one.
    Select it, right-click on it, Properties, Customise, Folder icons - Change icon and look in the text input box Look for icons in this file.
    That will give you a path & a file name for whatever is providing the incorrect icon. [see KCR's examples above]
    Then just press Cancel as you are trying to get the info and do not want, at this stage, to change anything.
    Knowing what is providing the incorrect icon can lead to understanding what caused the problem.

    perhaps the icon cache got corrupted
    I suppose. Also, i don't want the icon showing my folders as being compressed. Is it possible to cleanse my folders from all of these icons?

    It seems like it got rid of the icon on most of the folders, but the icon is still on some of the subfolders.

    The icon source may be specified inside a "desktop.ini" file.

    Something like:

    Code:
    [.ShellClassInfo]
    LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\System32\SettingSyncCore.dll,-1024
    IconResource=%SystemRoot%\system32\imageres.dll,-1040
    The desktop.ini file is invisible by default you may have enable show hidden files and folders and disable the "Don't show system protected files" in the folders options in control panel.

    It seems to have messed something up. Some of my programs and folders does not show an icon anymore, just the name of the program or the folders. I'm really not good at messing with the registry, that's usually why i prefer not doing it.

    You can try rebuild your iconcache. See this tutorial: How to Rebuild the Icon Cache in Windows 10

    I found a solution. You have to use winaero tweaker to disable the compressed overlay icon. It will also get rid of the two blue arrows.
