Screensaver Photos - I would like file name (path) displayed

I have recently upgraded to W10
My previous screensaver displayed my photos and also gave the name / filepath.
This is really useful as I have a big archive, all photos are named and dated. Quite often I am keen to know the details of the photo displayed.
Is there a fix? Or is there 3rd party program that will do it as W10 doesn't seem to offer that facility.
    Thanks
    Nick

Hi, could I just confirm you mean screensaver- a picture that appears when you have not been using the PC for a short time, and was used in the days of CRT displays to save patterns being burnt into the screen- rather than desktop wallpaper (background) or lock screen images?

It's just that it's more common for people to have large collections of images for their desktop background or lock/login screen. Similarly there's much more around supporting lock screen and desktop background - e.g. 3rd party programs.

Presumably you want the picture displayed with text about it on the screen as well.

Here's one solution for the screensaver - import from XP:
Windows 10 file path on screensaver - Microsoft Community

(You need to read on some way to this person's comment:

    )

This page appears to be offering that file - however there is no guarantee it really is what it purports to be. If you have access to Windows XP, that would be a far safer source.
ssmypics.scr File Download Fix For All Windows OS

The zip file does contain an appropriately named file.

    Hi Bruce
Yes, you're right. I have quite a few icons on my background so rather like the photos on their own rather than cluttered. I don't use the lockscreen as it is a private computer at home. (although if it turns out to be the only solution, then I suppose I'll have to).
I have searched online for a download for the XP code but all the sites seem to want me to sign up for lots more rather than a simple download. I don't want to end up downloading some dodgy utility I don't want.
If anyone can suggest where to look, otherwise - can I get the lockscreen to scroll through my photo albums and show the file path?

    There's a download link here:

    screen saver display the filename

EDIT: Forget that. The link is no longer valid.

I'd suggest that if you were to create a new thread with a title something like

Needed please- ssmypics.scr from Windows XP

    - there will be members here who have a copy of XP around- maybe as a VM- who may be able to provide it to you as a zipped attachment.

The download site I found for you does not require membership.

As for the lock screen, whilst you can specify your own picture or slideshow, and have data from one of a specified set of apps displayed on it, I struggle to think of any way you'll get that data shown on it.

Perhaps if you had a set of prepared images with the path overlaid on them by some program... which I'd consider highly unlikely and not worth the effort.

(P.S. I'm not Bruce K Christopherson - that's just the name of someone posting in the thread I found for you)

    Thanks Dalchina
    Sorry I mis-named you, I didn't look properly.
You'll see I followed your suggestion.
    Cheers

Just as an alternative you could take a look at John's Background switcher, which is very customisable and has the option to display the Image Name onscreen, amongst many other features

    Johns Adventures

    It's totally free to use
