    Recover data from mac hdd using windows

    I apologise if this is in the wrong area but I have no idea where to post it.

    Does anyone know if it is possible to connect an HDD from a mac to my pc. My son in-laws MacBook just died (yes he is an apple snob but now he's stuffed) and he has info on it that he would like. I am pretty sure its not the hdd just the MacBook that is dead.

    Any help appreciated

    Greetings!

    Well, the hardware is relatively easy - it's the filesystem.

    Hope this helps!

    Macbooks are M.2 SSD's and the format cannot be read by Windows, but can be read by Linux in a limited sense. He can pull the drive and get an enclosure for it, so that he can read from another MAC or use his Time Machine backups (If he made any), to retrieve the data he wants.

    This should allow you to read the data.

    People have to remember that we do not know if the OP upgraded to Mojave and APFS. APFS for Windows | Paragon Software

    Yes...

    My first link references HFS+ for Windows.
    There is a 10 day free trial - fully featured.

    @bro67 -

    Thanks for the APFS information, just in case.
    Hope there's a free trial on that, too.

    Good information!
