    Messed up Libraries

    Win 10 1809

Somehow my Libraries are messed up with duplicate folders in various different places including under Onedrive. Asking a program to open a Picture folder for example may open an empty one or the correct one. Ditto saving and after saving the file has vanished!! I tried using properties/location to reset or change but get messages that I'm not allowed access or that it doesn't exist!

There was an option I found to reset Libraries but it made no difference. Any suggestions please?

Libraries are just shortcuts to a user’s folder. Onedrive will create symbolic links to a user’s folders and appear to be du-licates.

Make sure you have a back up.

If you wish, you could try this for comparison:
Enable or Disable OneDrive Integration | Tutorials

This may be the tutorial you referred to:

Just to check - have you ever relocated folders (Location tab)? It's easy to make mistakes doing that so hope that's not part of your problem.

    Hi!
Man i got the exact same issue. In my library there can be TWO Picture or Document folders and when i try to deleg the fake one sometimes i can delete it but before you know it its back. When i right click on these ghosts then you can see that accordning to them they are STILL inside OneDrive folder even though i have competly uninstalled Onedrive for this exakt reason, i dont want my most important files as pictures, documents and music etc. INSIDE the fist of onedrive (i know its perhaps illogical since the files are alwaays going to be "Inside" a mirocoft product.) The thing is that i once deleted some files in the onedrive Online dierctory and onedrive then went ahead and immidiatly deleted the original files in my library foldder wich was, Yes, inside OneDrive, thats not my iidea of a great back up.

Ok, long story short... Even the Onedrive folder comes back like a ghost, i can delete it but its just IMPOSSILE to move it. as in relocate it, same thing with the Document and Picture folders.

How did you solve it? Or ANYONE is of course welcome to help out. Its on a Braaand new laptop so it sucks really bad and i feel really supid for allowing it to happn. Never ever again Onedrive. It just wants to Gulp up everyting you got and before you know it its been deleted for some reason...

    Thanks!!!

You can uninstall and eradicate Onedrive completely if you wish.

You can remove all the libraries, too.

This is what mine looks like...

Interesting - what then happens if you install a 3rd party program which normally creates folders in one of the default libraries?

If the libraries are confusing then return to default and hide them again. File Explorer and right click a blank space in the left pane and untick the box to show libraries.

I just manually save w/e it is... to folders of my choice, in locations of my choice. If a program can remember where my choice is, then I set it that way. If not, I just do it myself.

This helps keep the OS smaller, which makes backups, faster. I have a lot of pics and videos.... a lot. I also have a fair size music collection.

Also... I only really use a few older programs. Ya know, ones that let me decide how they work.

I'm the same Ghot. Have been doing it since XP. Creating my own folders for Photos, Music etc. The only exception is the Downloads folder.
