Any way to disable the new drop-down menu for wireless displays?

    Hi everyone,

I wasn't entirely sure what to call this "feature," but all of a sudden windows is giving me a drop-down menu at the top of the screen whenever I'm connected to a wireless display. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? I can unpin it so that it's not always there, but then it just pops in and gets in the way whenever my mouse goes near the top of the screen. I included a screenshot of my desktop, the menu I'm talking about is the one with "Connected to displayadapter..." in it.

    Cheers

    Welcome to TenForums @Ih8W10

The one to investigate would be the 'Pin' icon, last on the right Any way to disable the new drop-down menu for wireless displays?-image.png. It looks the same as the one for a remote desktop session or a VM when in full screen mode.

If it works the same way then clicking on the Pin icon will unpin the connection bar and it should then hide.
If that works, then so should the keyboard shortcut to display it again if/when you need to use it:
    Ctrl+Alt+Home.

Thank you both for your replies!

    Ztrucker:
The gear icon lets me choose between modes (gaming, working, or watching videos). None of the options stop it from popping in though.

    Bree:
The pin icon hides the menu temporarily, but it pops back in if my cursor goes anywhere near the top of the screen. This is still annoying for me because it always pops up and blocks me whenever I'm trying to change tabs. I'm looking for a way to stop it from showing up altogether.

There is no official way to remove the connection bar (the MS name for it). One thing you can do is resize it. Click & drag the || lines on the left end of the connection bar.

One enterprising poster found an unofficial way to remove it, last post in this thread.

@Bree, great find. @Brink can make a tutorial out of that (just kidding). Good info to save though.
