File Explorer launches when Edge is pinned to taskbar.

Hi, I have a very peculiar situation where File Explorer launches itself when I open Edge from a pin on the task bar. If I go to the Start menu and open Edge, only edge opens. I have tried unpinning and re-pinning Edge to the taskbar, but the issue returns.

    Any ideas??

Never heard of this before - are you sure its not your mouse auto clicking (could be worth trying a different mouse just incase). Other than that do a Windows Update? I can't think what else would cause this especially if you've re-pinned Edge from the Start Menu. It's got to be the mouse in my opinion.

No, I am not accidentally clicking on file explorer after opening edge.

Does it open to "This PC" or a specific folder?

Ok, that just furthers the mystery, for me anyway?

How exactly are you trying to pin Edge to the taskbar?

Try this method - If you haven't already done so, unpin Edge from the Taskbar. Open Edge from the Start menu. Right-click on the Edge icon on the Taskbar and select 'pin to taskbar'. Does that still open Explorer?

    Solved

I don't know what the issue was with my pinned icons but I found an article that helped in a roundabout way.

    I right-clicked and deleted all pinned icons, then navigated to C:\Users\[yourusername]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar
and deleted all contents. Restarted the machine, re-pinned the icons, and Bob's your mother's brother.
