Lately my spacebars don't start and stop net videos properly

A simple function on my various PCs stopped working a few weeks ago. You know when you're watching a video and you want to pause it with the space bar? Or a resume? It basically stopped working. You hit 'pause' and it tries to but fails. You hit it again and... maybe it rewinds the video ten seconds. This 'behavior' occurs in Firefox and Chrome, which tells me it's a Windows update thing. But is there a keyboard key that may be the culprit?

I'm Googling for answers and I wonder if it's beginning to be 'stuck' but not quite there yet. So if I hit 'pause a video' with the spacebar, it tries to, succeeds, gets slightly stuck, and the interprets the temporary 'stuck' as another hit.

    Hmm...

What happens if you try this in VLC/Windows Media Player on a test video/film? Do you experience the same issue?

    Thanks for your reply.

I think I was able to isolate my issue to just one of my PCs, a laptop. And perhaps down to only one thing: YouTube TV running in Chrome.

If YouTube TV is in fullscreen and playing -- and I hit the spacebar, what it does is come out of fullscreen but not stop. Hit it again, it stops.

I'm going to see if I can make VLC behave the same way, or YouTube in Firefox. If all three act weird, I think I have a spacebar issue. If only the YouTubeTV in Chrome, it's either that site or Chrome.

    I'll get back to you.

Odd, I just noticed the spacebar not working issue after I read your post, and fooled with it. . .

If I pause a video with my pointer ( little hand ) and then try to start it again with the spacebar, it won't work. .

But. . . read the red text, if you can.

For me, as long as the browser has focus, the space bar works.
