No way of having a shortcut to open a selected folder in a new window?

I guess this subject has already been discussed, but I was not able to find any clear answers.
I already know we can assign keyboard shortcuts to desktop links, so that they directly open certain programs, folders or files. That's actually the (limited) goal of many online "guides" and "tutorials" who generally claim to teach you how to create "customized keyboard shortcuts in Windows 10".

However, my (maybe wrong) interpretation of such a sentence is different, because reading it I think about assigning shortcuts to single commands, such as, for example, Windows Explorer commands ("Rename", "Edit", "Open in a new window" ...).
In particular I'm interested in the latter, as quite often I need to open a selected folder in a separate window. Quite often but not always, so the "trick" of changing the default folder opening behaviour (also very easy to find online) does not interest me.

What I'd like is just to assign a shortcut (keyboard or keyboard + mouse) to the very "Open in a new window" command. I also know the CTRL+N combination can be used to open a new window, but that again is not what I' m looking for, as it seems to "work" (indirectly) only when you select a folder in the left side of W.Explorer window.

I guess Windows developers think such a feature would be useless to most users.
Anyway, since hope dies... penultimate, I'm still hoping to find some definitive answer:
is there any way (even a difficult one), in Windows 10, to achieve such a result?

    Hello Harmand,

If it helps, you could right click on the folder, and click on "Open in new window".

Make your shortcut in the normal way then add C:\Windows\explorer.exe {followed by a space} to its Properties, Target field. For example,
    C:\Windows\explorer.exe E:\

Using such a shortcut, the target will open in a new window.

Windows apps were and always will be basic, you need 3rd party apps to get "advanced" features.

Like simply adding tabs and then you can use middle button to open links.

    Download Clover or Download Explorer++

How about double click on folder, holding Ctrl key down?

Note: Folders should be opened using double click option (default), for above tip to work.

That's what I usually do, but I'd like to obtain the same result in a single go instead of two (right click + click) :]

This method seems to work, at least in my Win10, only in the right side of the W.Explorer window and, oddly I would say, only if the folder is not selected. In other words, if I select a folder (single click on it) and then CTRL+doubleclick on it nothing happens; the folder has to be in unselected state.
Moreover, even more oddly I would say, if I CTRL+doubleclick on an unselected folder while other "sister" folders are selected I get as many new windows as the selected folders, plus the one belonging to the unselected folder on which I doubleclicked.

Anyway, while not being exactly what I was (and still am, actually) looking for (a shortcut for the actual "open in a new window" command which is always available in the context menu), this... oddly behaving feature actually allows me to reach my goal in many cases, as long as I'm careful with the selection. :]

Hi, if you install Qttabbar (by Quizo) -free- you can configure it so that (e.g.)

middle click on a folder opens it in a new window.
