    Windows not Auto-rotating on laptop

Hello, I have an HP ENVY x360 - 15m-bq121dx. It's been a great device up until now. Today, it decided it didn't want to rotate anymore so I can't use it as a tablet right now, which is half the reason I bought it. I've done everything I can to figure it out and did fix it, for a minute: I've done a system recovery, wiped drivers, edited the registry, combed through settings, even smacked the darn thing a few times. It worked for a second after I edited the registry, but decided to break again:

In the registry in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AutoRotation there are dword's pertaining to auto-rotation. After I did the system recovery, windows was acting like it had no accelerometer to speak of and thus didn't even give the option in settings to autorotate. I looked at the registry and noticed that the 'SensorPresent' dword didn't exist, and I added it in, restarted, and it worked again! Then it re-broke. the dword's are all still there, and even have correct values, windows is just being very rude.

I've also tried both versions of AMD's virtual buttons drivers to no avail, and I've uninstalled and refreshed darn near every driver in device manager than could possibly be useful. I'm at a loss and really just want my rotation back and HP support is closed rn and they're usually useless anyway. If anyone can help me, I'll be beyond greatful!

So it turns out that it resolved itself? I started the laptop this morning and flipped it just to see if it maybe by some stroke of luck fixed itself overnight, and it did: I'm not sure what exactly changed, but the reg-dword labeled "Enabled" in that section became set to 0. I'm not sure how it being set to 0 makes it turn on, but I guess my laptop decided to do that. Idk if this thread should be deleted but whatever, I guess my issue is fixed.

Nah, don't delete the thread. I read just to get new information, not that yours will give me any! Still, folks can look to see what you've done and what may have worked.

Quite frankly, betcha the reboot of sorts (turned off last night and turned back on this morning) is what did the trick. Sometimes a reboot is necessary, but you're not told that . . .

I wished I could get mine to work on a Dell Lattitude 5379, I don't have the option for auto rotate so I have to manually rotate the screen whenever I turn it in tablet mode.

I manually installed the 1809 update today and it added auto rotate to my repertoire plus resolved the HID Sensor Collection v2 driver problem I was having. I had to manually install the update because the automatic kept failing.
